Parents: No Oscar nod for film about Ark. killings (AP)

JONESBORO, Ark. ? The parents of one of three West Memphis, Ark., boys found dead 18 years ago want a documentary about the killings to be excluded from Academy Award consideration.

The Jonesboro Sun (http://bit.ly/sdbSAG) reports that Todd and Dana Moore wrote a letter Nov. 22 to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In it, the Moores argue that "Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory" glorifies Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, who were released from prison in August after their sentences were set aside and they pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

Michael Moore, Steve Branch and Christopher Byers were found in a ditch in May 1993.

Documentary director Joe Berlinger said he stands by the film and believes the men are innocent. Berlinger also says he understands the parents' grief.
