A cyber-security company was the big winner at a new awards event.

The awards were part of a three day event called Innovate UK 2013, which is a joint venture by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) aimed at bringing together technology start-ups in central London to showcase best practice.

The show aims to give SMEs and entrepreneurs a platform to showcase the pioneering developments in innovation and technology taking place across in the UK today.

Only launched in 2012 cyber-security firm PixelPin was nominated as one of the most innovative mobile start-ups by UKTI and SMART UK in January 2013 at Innovate UK.

PixelPin founders, Brian Taylor and Geoff Anderson, had long established careers working in security with defence companies before developing the PixelPin patented approach to online authentication - using personal pictures to replace passwords.

Geoff Anderson, co-founder of PixelPin said: "This award is very special for us as we've been nominated by our peers and fellow innovators.

"The aim of the product is to bring security to everyone and we feel this award recognises our efforts to ensure our users are protecting themselves from the ever increasing risks in the digital world."
