THE Mayor of Dudley?s charity pot has been boosted with a ?9,000 donation raised from a radio fundraising event.
Thousands of Beacon listeners took part in the Walk of the Black Country in June last year from Himley Hall to Wolverhampton Racecourse.
The fundraiser was held to raise money for Promise Dreams, which fulfills the dreams of terminally ill borough children and their families.
However the station also split 10 per cent of the final total between the Dudley and Wolverhampton mayoral charities.
Dudley Mayor, Councilor Michael Evans stopped off at Beacon?s Wolverhampton base to receive the cheque for ?9109.22, which will go towards the the Leukaemia Unit at Russell?s Hall Hospital and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association.
Cllr Evans said: ?I?d like to thank Beacon for organising the walk and thank all the walkers who have helped serve local children and families as a result of their tremendous fundraising efforts. This money will make a real difference to causes that are close to my heart and enables us to help them with the dedicated work they carry out.?
